Volunteers are the life blood of foodbanks. Your skills could be just what we need.
Volunteers are the driving force behind foodbanks. There are thousands of volunteers across the UK, helping The Trussell Trust Foodbank Network get emergency food to people in crisis. We want you to enjoy volunteering and there are lots of ways to get involved. Whatever role you choose, you will make a real difference to the life of someone in crisis.
Helping at a foodbank centre
We have many roles within the foodbank, suitable for volunteers of of varying back grounds, from light – moderate admin, or if you have more experience with office package, we will find ways to utilise your skills.
If you are looking for hands on, chatting with clients on a one to one basis, we do not give advice, but we can supply a listening ear, and signpost them to relevant services that may improve their situation.
Hands on people are also need sorting and storing food donations, and making up food parcels.
Due to the increase in work that all our volunteers do, we are also looking for someone with experience to volunteer alongside our volunteer coordinator.
We are currently looking for volunteers at
Ruchill/ Kelvinside Parish Church, Shakespeare Street, Thursday 11am-2.30pm
Gairbraid Parish Church, Maryhill Road, Monday 11.00am – 2.30pm
Blawarthill Parish Church, Millbrix Avenue, Scotstoun, Tuesday, and Friday 11.00am -2.30pm.
*At Blawarthill we are looking for a cleaner, volunteer coordinator and admin assistant among other roles*
Also, Blawarthill Church 1st and last Sunday of month 12.15 – 13.15, and Warehouse nights again at Blawarthill dates to be confirmed. There are also weekend collections at local supermarkets throughout the year.
